About this reference

The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is a large multi-country panel study of adults aged 50 and over. This analysis (Grgic et al. 2025) pooled the fifth wave of SHARE to establish reference values for the Five-Times Sit-to-Stand Test (FTSST), the time in seconds to rise from a chair and sit back down five times as fast as safely possible. Weighted percentiles (5th through 95th) were reported by 5-year age group and sex for 45,470 participants across 14 European countries. Lower times indicate better lower-limb strength and functional mobility.
