Blomkvist et al.
About this reference
Blomkvist and colleagues measured simple reaction time in a community-based sample of 354 healthy adults spanning ages 20 to 99 in Sweden. The study provides age- and sex-stratified reference data for simple reaction time, filling a gap in normative data for this commonly used neuropsychological measure. Participants were screened to exclude those with conditions that could affect reaction time.
Known limitations
- Relatively small sample size, particularly in the oldest age brackets
- Swedish sample — cultural and demographic differences may limit generalisability
- Simple reaction time only — does not cover choice reaction time or other variants
